One day I had just finished a “Grandmother Visit” to my daughter’s first grade classroom in Texas, where I read a couple of my stories for the children.  They loved them and voted for the best one—a true story about a kitten I had when I was a child.  After class, one 6-year-old came up to me and said, “I don’t have anyone to read to me.  Can you be my Grandma?”

My heart was touched, and I thought of many children far away from grandparents who have little opportunities to bond with them through story times and shared memories.  That was my starting place for writing, sharing, and leaving a legacy.

Background:

Marilyn’s background is as a high school and college educator, a corporate trainer, and piano teacher.  She is a mother of 6 children and 16 grandchildren.

After my husband passed away during COVID, I thought more and more about what I could do for my family while I am still on this earth.  I had owned and run a pre-school for 45 years, and I dearly love working and sharing with children.  

Storytime with my own grandchildren and their friends has always been special. I had been praying for weeks for inspiration about what to do, give, or support as a legacy for my own family.  

I found the answer with Fun Grandma Stories. What a wonderful thing it is to grow older and to see life from a different perspective!  What a joy it is to connect with others and with my own posterity, especially through the videos and memories.
